'I was never very confident about my painting ability, possibly through being self-taught, but more of an attitude to life perhaps, preferring to focus mainly on exhibiting on the Mound Precinct by the National Gallery, Edinburgh, for many years, during the Festival, along with another Dundee artist, Micheal McVeigh and others, though I also sold paintings to a local gallery from my early 20's for many years, as well as having them on sale in numorous other outlets and galleries. I was also never very happy about them being "hidden" in galleries once I finally got around to exploring the internet, so I'm pleased to have the opportunity to be exhibiting paintings here, where they can be seen more as a whole. Always very much a part-time sometime artist, my intention now is to spend more time on it, adding more paintings periodically, widening the scope of place and subject.

I've also come to see similarities in the style of my own work, and not to name-drop, with the Austrian artist Bernhard Vogel, which far from being a figment of my imagination, and never intentional, may well be a reflection of the correct use of the imagination in the attempt to imbue a scene with a quality of reality; the artists constant goal to evoke a response from him or herself as well as the viewer, as much akin to music as to art. For which reason I rend to find music the perfect accompaniment, from Brian Eno to The Dillinger Escape Plan, from Beethoven to Glass orGiya Kancheli.'
