'I was born in France in 1971. As an only child I used my imagination a lot and created fantasies and imaginary characters to keep me company. I always love to draw but mainly with pencils, I never tried paint until adolescence. My grandmother and my aunt were really good at oil painting. My aunt actually advised me to start with watercolors so I tried but was not satisfied. Then I moved to oil painting at the age of 16 and sold a few paintings in France. I studied English at the university and in 1997 when I was offered a job in Britain, I accepted.
I met my partner in 1999 and moved to a little cottage in Kent where I got my own little painting room”. I like to play with the mediums and let them work by themselves on the support. Colors are also of a great importance to me. Life is so dull without them. When I started painting at 16, it was mainly to relieve emotions (Anger, sadness…) I would choose the colors according to my mood and just let the paint flow. It was very effective. I found out that the expression of negative emotion could be beautiful. I could let go of my emotions and I actually felt satisfied with the paintings I created. Double satisfaction. Who could ask for more. I found out that my paintings work a bit like these psychological tests made of ink stains (Rorschach test ???). Every person will see something different in the shapes and stains. My friends and I actualy spent evenings scrutinizing the paintings and sharing what we would see.'
